HomesForSaleByOwner.net is an independent guide for people in the US who want to sell a home without a listing agent, or buy a home directly from its owner. A small independent publisher runs the site. We started it in 2026.

We are not a real estate agent, broker, lender, appraiser, inspector or law firm. We do not list homes, we do not represent buyers or sellers, and we do not sell FSBO packages or guarantees. Our guides give general information. For your own sale or purchase, talk to a real estate attorney licensed in your state.

A note about this web address

Other people used this web address in earlier years. We have no connection with them, their services, packages or any listings they ran, and we do not hold their records. Some old page addresses, such as the Learning Center lessons, now carry new guides that we wrote from scratch.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any other for-sale-by-owner website, listing service, brokerage or brand.

How we write

• AI-assisted drafting. We draft guides with the help of AI writing tools.
• Official sources first. We check every legal or money statement against an official source, such as HUD, the EPA, the CFPB, the IRS or the federal register of regulations, and link it on the page.
• No made-up numbers. We do not quote typical fees, percentages or prices, because they vary by state, county and deal. Where a rule sets a number, such as a deadline, we cite the rule.
• Dates you can see. Each guide shows when we last checked it. Laws change, so always confirm with the official source.
• Corrections. If you find a mistake, tell us. We fix errors promptly and update the date.

Today the site has no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. If that changes, we will label ads clearly and update our privacy policy first. Advertisers will never decide what we write.
